According to Inuit legend, it was Polar Bear who first taught humans to hunt seal. Polar bears are admired for their strength, courage, and spiritual power, and Inuit angakkuit (shamans) frequently call upon the spirit of the polar bear. Like other spiritually powerful animals, polar bears frequently shape-shift into human form and back in Inuit mythology, putting on a white bear coat to take on their ursine form.

Cameo Anderson is the artist. Cameo lives in Michigan with her husky named Elsker. She's been painting formal portraits of snow dogs for over 15 years as a pet portrait artist for hire.
